Room 6 (New Entrant)

Whaea Michelle & Whaea Tacy

Nau Mai Ki Room 6
In room 6 I try and make it a classroom where my students can learn, laugh and have fun. I want my students to have a place where they feel comfortable and safe. I teach them that we are a whanau and as a whanau we respect each other and we help one another in both our play and our learning.

I do learning through play as part of my daily routine. Learning through play helps the students with their oral language, hand and eye coordination, they learn to explore, experiment, discover, and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways.

Apart from this I have reading, writing and math's groups within my classroom. I teach my students their numbers, letters and phonic sounds. They learn to break down words into sounds, re-read for understanding, use the pictures to help them with their text. They learn what numbers come before and after, what is one more than, and one less than. They learn about shapes and collecting data. My students learn about sentence structure and writing what they think and how they feel.

Even though this is a new entrant class I want my students to learn that they can be leaders in this school, and strive for the best that they can be.
